PowerPoint Tip - Undim Bulleted Text

Bulleted textual matter elicits a batch of animated, opinionated discussion. I've covered the professionals and cons of bulleted textual matter and provided some tips for working with, or without, them:

* Quickly acquire quit of bullets

* Cliff Atkinson's Beyond Bullet Points

Sometimes, you can't believe of a manner to avoid bullets. So, how make you formatting them?

Some people like to animate (build) the slugs so that they come up in one-by-one. I recently heard a Web seminar by an experienced presenter in the cad (computer aided design) field say, "I detest it when people convey all the slugs in at once. I can't calculate out which point the presenter is talking about. Please, do it easy on me."

And just before that, I heard another experienced presenter say, "Building slugs is like spoon-feeding the audience. I detest it when presenters make that!"

So, is there a center ground? Yes! This technique conveys in all the slugs at once, dimmed, but readable. Then you undim them as you discourse them. People who like to see all the slugs at once are happy, and those who like a hint as to the current point you're discussing are fulfilled as well.

PowerPoint doesn't have got an undimming feature, so you necessitate to change the fount color, using animation. Here's are the steps:

1. Format the slugs in a medium color, such as as gray. Brand certain that the colour you take is seeable against your background.

2. Choose Slide Show>Custom Animation. (In PowerPoint 2007, take the Animations tab> Custom Animation.)

3. Select the textual matter proxy with the slugs by clicking anywhere inside it.

4. Choose Add Effect> Emphasis> Change Font Color. (You may have got to chink More Effects to happen the Change Font Color animation.)

5. Set the Font Color to the default fount color. Set the velocity to Fast; there's no ground to do audiences wait while the fount alterations color. Keep the default On Chink in the Start box, so that you can undim each line as you acquire to it.

Try this technique the adjacent clip you make a bulleted microscope slide and see if the audience is happier!
